Elbow pain: The pain can be localised on the outside or inside of the elbow, it can be sharp on movement, can feel bruised to touch or feel stiff and achy especially first thing in the morning. Elbow pain can also be due to a sport injury or repetitive strain injury like working at a desk. We see a lot of "golfer" or "tennis" elbow.
Wrist and Hand: Wrist pain can also be due to RSI like the elbow and sometimes can also cause carpal tunnel syndrome which is compression of the structures inside the wrist which can cause tingling and pins and needles. We also see patients recovering from fractures and sprains.
How can Osteopathy help?
The elbow, wrist and hands are smaller joints and in order to diagnose we conduct some specific tests to understand which structures are involved and find a suitable treatment.
Osteopathy can be helpful to treat muscle tension, reduce swelling and inflammation if a joint of a tendon is inflamed for instance, restore movement in restricted joints and take the pressure off some areas that show signs of trapped nerves. We also take in consideration the circulatory system which can also have an impact on some complaints we see in practice.
