WHAT IS OSTEOPATHY?
Osteopathy is a holistic alternative therapy that focuses on the patient's general health by considering the symptoms in relation to the patient's lifestyle and medical history. Osteopaths believe that the body is a unit and that its optimal function is based on the principle that the body has the ability to heal itself. Diagnosis following a full examination of the musculoskeletal and neurological systems will allow treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal disorders tailored to the individual patient.
Osteopathy helps increasing the mobility of joints, relieves muscle tension, promotes the blood and nerve supply to tissues and helps the body's own healing mechanisms via a range of techniques, such as joint manipulation, articulation, soft/deep tissue massage and soft tissue stretch. Advice on posture and exercises are regularly used along side treatment.
Osteopathic treatments are suitable for all ages. This includes athletes, office workers, manual workers, newborns, babies, children, pregnant women, the elderly, sports people.
